Wellington County resident hit with investment fraud

Wellington County, Ont. OPP are investigating an alleged fraud after a resident came forward as the victim of an investment group scam.

The investigation revealed the victim was contacted via phone by someone claiming to be part of an investment group. After communicating several times over the phone, the victim began emailing the individual allegedly working with the investment group.

The victim transferred a large sum of money to what they were told was a legitimate investment company. They later made a larger investment after further correspondence with the company.

The victim has since not been able to contact the suspects or anyone at the fictitious company.
