The term “hanging chad” will disappear from the electoral lexicon if a University of Calgary student and his team has their way.

Schulich School of Engineering student Jose Herrera, who’s set to graduate from the school in December, has always had a keen interest in politics, but when he voted for the first time in Canada’s 2015 federal election, it struck him how antiquated the process still is.
