After a fake seven-year long online love affair and $450,000 lost, a Toronto woman has been defrauded of her life savings and possessions to an online romance scam.

The former City of Toronto employee and widow sold her condo and sent hundreds of thousands of dollars overseas to help her long-distance flame in a series of fake financial issues. The woman was told she would be compensated for her losses, but instead found out not only was there no compensation, but there was no man.
