A Summerside, P.E.I., resident has lost $3,000 after falling victim to a text message scam, say police.
Summerside police said the victim received a text message claiming to be from a cellular service provider. The message said the victim was owed money due to an error in their account.
The message came from the number (819) 479-5788, police said.
When the victim clicked on the link provided in the text message, it allowed the scammers access into the victim’s financial accounts.
