Sudbury police warning of fraudulent door-to-door charity drives

According to a press release issued by the police service Friday, there have been “a number of of ongoing and recent incidents,” where people, claiming to be soliciting donations on behalf of charities, are going door-to-door.

Police said, in these cases, the fraudsters are collecting the money, in the form of cash or cheques, for themselves. Investigations are ongoing, the service said. The scammers are counting on people’s generosity around the holiday season, police said.
