March 16, 2021 – Ontario plans to permanently allow for wills to be virtually witnessed, but will not go as far to allow fully digital wills, which some say is a missed opportunity as Canadians manage more of their financial affairs online.
Many of the formal requirements around making a valid will have been in place for centuries and are meant to avoid fraud or undue influence.
