Ponoka, Alta. residents are being warned about a water metre scam after several residents have been contacted by a company offering water metre rebates.

The Town of Ponoka owns all water metres in the town, and is not offering any kinds of rebates.

RCMP warn residents not to provide any personal information to anyone offering a rebate and not to allow anyone into their home to inspect their metre unless they are a Town employee bearing valid Town of Ponoka ID.
