Peterborough senior doesn’t fall for attempted phone scam

April 30, 2021 – A Peterborough, Ont., woman in her 80s took a call recently from a man claiming to be her grandson who asked her to send money to get him out of jail.

She didn’t fall for it, hanging up and confirming that her grandson was not behind bars.

City police say too many people, particularly seniors, fall for this kind of scam, and warn people to be wary of callers, even people claiming to be friends or relatives, who ask for money. Peterborough Examiner reports. | READ MORE
