Ontario’s “Crypto King” Pleads Guilty in Domestic Assault Case

Aiden Pleterski, the self-styled “Crypto King” accused of defrauding investors out of millions, has pleaded guilty in a domestic violence case involving assault and harassment.

Court records confirm that Pleterski, 26, pleaded guilty on July 29 to assault, harassment, and entering a dwelling to commit an offence. The charges relate to a three-day period in early January at a home in Vaughan. The complainant’s identity is shielded by a publication ban.

York Regional Police said Pleterski surrendered himself at a police station before being placed in custody. He was later released on bail after his parents pledged $7,500, under conditions that required him to live at their Whitby home nightly and have no contact with the victim.

Prosecutors have not withdrawn four additional charges connected to the same incidents, including forcible confinement, uttering threats, and a second assault count. Pleterski’s sentencing is scheduled to take place in late November in Newmarket.

Separate from the domestic case, Pleterski faces fraud and money laundering charges in what Durham police describe as the largest fraud investigation in the region’s history. Police allege he raised roughly $40 million from investors, promising guaranteed profits, but used the funds to bankroll a lavish lifestyle that included luxury cars, private jets, and a rented mansion.

A bankruptcy investigation revealed Pleterski invested less than two per cent of the money he received, while spending nearly $16 million on himself. His fraud trial is set for October 2026 in Toronto Superior Court.
