Ontario seniors warned of N.Y. lotto scam

March 22, 2021 – Provincial police are warning seniors of a scam after an Ontario resident lost $27,500 to a fraudster. OPP Acting Sgt. Ed Sanchuk says that family members of the senior — who resides in Norfolk County — alerted police of the scam, which sends an elderly person an email claiming they won US$785,000 (nearly C$1 million) in the New York State Mega Millions lottery.
