An attempted fraud involving a local woman who posted an ad requesting a rental home on the online classified site Kijiji has Wellington OPP urging local residents to be cautious.
On July 10, Wellington OPP was contacted by a complainant who reportedly posted an ad on Kijiji looking for a house to rent in the Guelph area. The complainant was contacted by an individual claiming that they were in the United States but had a property for rent in the Guelph area.
The suspect sent pictures, waived any kind of interview and told the woman that once they received money, the keys to the rental property would be mailed.
