The Better Business Bureau is reporting that debt collection scammers are getting more creative in their efforts to rob cash from their victims.
A new twist on the scam is collecting on cash advances in which victims receive automated calls from companies claiming to be collecting payment for a cash advance. The recording prompts listeners to stay on the line and speak to an agent where the tone of the call often turns threatening.
