Playoff tickets across the county have been in high demand, and online scammers are taking advantage of that.
Mike Michea doled out hundreds of dollars to attend Game 6 of the Toronto Maple Leafs versus Washington Capitals first-round playoff series, which is being held at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Sunday.
Michea saw an ad for the tickets on Kijiji for gold section centre-ice seats for the game. After texting back and forth with the seller, Michea sent him $800 in exchange for two playoff tickets, but the tickets never arrived.
Police say this type of scam is common during playoff season, and advise game-seekers to be careful on how they pay for their tickets.
