Halton police: scams use emotion to defraud the vulnerable

Halton, Ont. police are concerned with the growing seniors’ population and the advances in technology that are allowing fraudsters to tailor their scam tactics to hit those most vulnerable.

During a fraud prevention presentation, Halton police Det. Sgt. Chris Lawson said, “as the population get older and is using technology, the criminals have adapted to prey on people with the technology.”
