Halton Catholic District School Board trustee charged with 12 counts of fraud

A trial date has been set for an Oakville Catholic school board trustee facing fraud charges.

Halton Catholic District School Board trustee Nancy Guzzo, is facing charges on 12 counts of fraud.

Guzzo was scheduled to made a virtual appearance at a Hamilton court on Jan. 28. 2022. Additional court dates have been scheduled for later this month.

At the case management hearing, the trial for Guzzo has been set to begin on April 17, 2023.

Guzzo’s Lawyer confirmed she is opting for a judge-only trial.

Guzzo is facing:

  • 10 counts of fraud under $5,000
  • two counts of fraud over $5,000

These charges are in connection with an investigation probing her actions while she was an assistant business manager with LIUNA, a North American-wide union with some 500,000 members, including 80,000 in Canada.
