Halifax police warn citizens about recent telephone scam

Halifax financial crime investigators are warning citizens about a recent phone scam after reports that a 23-year-old man had received a call from someone claiming to be with Immigration Canada.

The caller told the man that a complaint had been filed against which would require hundreds of dollars in legal representation. The victim was told to forward the funds via a money transfer and was threatened with arrest if he didn’t send the money.
