May 27, 2021 – After an extensive investigation, the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) – Regional Fraud Unit has charged a man from Georgetown with several fraud-related offences.

Police say in February of 2021, investigators identified a suspect in various fraudulent credit card applications where personal information from several Halton residents was used.

According to police, it is alleged that the individual compromised various Canada Post community mailboxes in both Georgetown and northwest Mississauga and stole personal mail items.

Police say this information was then used to fraudulently apply for different financial services through banks and other lenders.

On April 28, 2021, the accused was arrested and a search warrant was executed at his Georgetown residence, according to police. insauga.com reports. | READ MORE
