Karen Robinson, also known as Karen Gushue, from Fort Erie, Ont., was charged with two counts of operating as a travel agent without registration, contrary to the Travel Industry Act, 2002.

In February 2017, Niagara Region police began an intensive investigation after receiving complaints of cruises that were being offered by a Ridgeway, Ont. woman.

Over 140 complaints alleged that Robinson (Gushue) solicited funds between August 2016 and February 2017 for cruises that were either never booked or were not as advertised.

Robinson is also charged with multiple counts of fraud over $5,000 and fraud under $5,000 under the Criminal Code of Canada.
