May 17, 2021 – A former St. John’s financial adviser to doctors is the subject of an upcoming hearing by a national regulator over allegations surrounding $775,000 in investment funds.
The Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) will hold the hearing on July 15.
In a news release, IIROC said it formally initiated the investigation into Joan McCarthy’s conduct in 2019.
The alleged violations occurred while she was a registered representative with the St. John’s branch of MD Management Ltd., an IIROC-regulated firm that, on its website, describes itself as a wealth management company “committed solely to Canada’s physicians and their families.”
McCarthy, according to IIROC, is no longer a registrant with an IIROC-regulated firm. Saltwire reports. | READ MORE
