Former mayor of Laval Gilles Vaillancourt is expected to plead guilty to the charges he faces in relation to a system of fraud and corruption linked to the awarding of municipal contracts, according to reports.

Pay back $9 million and six years behind bars

Radio-Canada is reporting an agreement between the crown prosecutor and Vaillancourt’s defence could see him sentenced to six years behind bars. The former Laval mayor would also have to pay back $9 million.
