Hamilton (October 18, 2019) – Former Hamilton Center Conservative riding association president, David Dawson, has been charged with fraud by the Hamilton Police on October 17. He has been arrested on the basis of reported ‘accounting irregularities’ in the federal Conservative electoral district association of Hamilton Centre, according to the police. He is alleged to have misappropriated over $30,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 18.
Hamilton Police arrested and charged David Dawson, the former Hamilton Center Conservative riding association president, with fraud on October 17. The arrest resulted from an investigation that started in March this year. ‘Accounting irregularities’ have been discovered in the local PC association at the conclusion of the 2015 election.
The 67-year-old former president of the association is alleged to have misappropriated over $30,000. The money ‘had been refunded to the Conservatives by Elections Canada’, the police explained in a statement on October 18.
Dawson has been charged with Fraud over $5,000, Theft by Conversion, and Theft by Person Required to Account. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 18.
