A former Town of Gambo employee has been charged with fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000 following a forensic audit. The charges emerged after a clear discrepancy was discovered in the town’s financial records.
Following a forensic audit of municipal accounts, authorities discovered that $75,000 was missing from the Town of Gambo’s finances. The investigation, launched by the RCMP in March, uncovered evidence indicating financial wrongdoing by a former town employee.
The accused has since been formally charged with fraud and theft, both exceeding $5,000. The individual is scheduled to make their first court appearance in Gander Provincial Court on December 2.
