Five people have been arrested by Barrie police for their involvement in a Kijiji ticket scam. An investigation was launched in January after police received a complaint about fraudulent ticket sales to sporting and entertainment events on the website.
Police say the five suspects, all 21-years-old and under, used stolen personal information of an Innisfil woman to execute the scam. The scammers convinced buyers to send money electronically without ever handing over the tickets.
